Even after running this blog for nearly two years, I can’t believe there are still people on this earth who think that gendered toys are connected to “differences in male and female brains”.
Please explain the evolutionary advantage that would be given to men who like blue vs men who like pink.
Well, the blue has always been a stand in for virility seeing as men collected the berries which were blue and the ocean is blue. Also, women have vaginas (and sometimes penises) and sometimes those are pink. Also, men have vaginas (and sometimes penises) and those can also be pink sometimes so it helps with mating. It makes perfect sense.
I’ve heard it seriously claimed that women have evolved to fixate on pink because they look after babies and have to closely watch their children’s little pink skins to see if they’re flushed with fever or pale and sickly or whatever. Because all children are white I guess and oh my god this theory is so terrible it’s making me rage all over again just thinking about it sorry I have to go and stab something now.
I hereby resign from earth. Going to live on the moon with Hamlet.
Friendly reminder folks, pink was actually designated as a boys’ color and blue a girls’ color until a few decades ago - it’s to do with culture, not brain differences.
